Scouts

Scouts is the ‘middle’ age section in Scouting and is for 10.5 to 14 year olds.
Scouts focus mainly on learning skills that the younger age groups are not mature enough for yet. This includes working on earning their axe, knife & saw permits, finding different ways to make & light a campfire & much much more.
Once a year we have a 2 night camp along with the Cub Scouts, normally at Stanford’s camp site, Pease Pottage. Almost all the children have been there before, are comfortable with the area & know they are safe there. We also usually go further away, for a longer time, in the school summer holidays with another scout group.
These trips away always includes sleeping in tents, lots of food, adventurous activities, learning new skills, a campfire & our own little yummy creation that ALL the kids love – ‘dobbies donuts’ (you’ll need to come on camp to find out what this is!)
At least once a year the Scouts join an evening with the Explorers, the most popular being the Halloween event that the Explorers put on at Stanford’s (we won’t say any more as we don’t want to ruin the scare/surprise)!
