‘Woollies and Rags’ Clothing Collection

For some years we have been collecting textiles from our members and their families to sell for recycling.

Over this time we have generated thousands of pounds, which have been used, amongst other things, to help fund the hut refurbishments, purchase new tents and equipment, and even helping sponsor Scouts to attend International Jamborees.

The system is simple.  We ask you to donate any old clothes, bags, belts, shoes, curtains, towels or bed linen, and drop them off in the shed at the top of the car park at Ron Hobbs Hall – the scout hut.

Just like the charity bags that come through your door, we will sell them to our recyclers (Wilcox & Co. Textile Recyclers and Reclaimers).  Unlike the bags that come through your door, 100% of the profit made from this recycling goes to your Group.

Now meetings are returning to normal, can we ask you to have a ‘spring clean’, and bring a bag or two to your next meeting?

Unfortunately, we cannot accept quilts, duvets, pillows or fluffy toys. Also, please note we can no longer accept old printer cartridges for recycling.

  1. Such a simple, eco-friendly way to recycle unwanted textiles. A great boost to our fundraising.
